Daily Reading Tuesday 19th October 2021

Tuesday 19 October 2021 Tuesday of week 29 in Ordinary Time  or Saints John de Brébeuf and Isaac Jogues, priests, and their Companions, Martyrs  or Saint Paul of the Cross, Priest  Liturgical Colour: Green.

Entrance Antiphon:
Cf. Psalm 16: 6, 8

To you I call; for you will surely heed me, O God;
turn your ear to me; hear my words.
Guard me as the apple of your eye;
in the shadow of your wings protect me.

Collect:

Almighty ever-living God,
grant that we may always conform our will to yours
and serve your majesty in sincerity of heart.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

First Reading:
Romans 5:12,15,17-21
Divine grace, coming through Jesus Christ, came as an abundant free gift

Sin entered the world through one man, and through sin death, and thus death has spread through the whole human race because everyone has sinned; but the gift itself considerably outweighed the fall. If it is certain that through one man’s fall so many died, it is even more certain that divine grace, coming through the one man, Jesus Christ, came to so many as an abundant free gift. If it is certain that death reigned over everyone as the consequence of one man’s fall, it is even more certain that one man, Jesus Christ, will cause everyone to reign in life who receives the free gift that he does not deserve, of being made righteous. Again, as one man’s fall brought condemnation on everyone, so the good act of one man brings everyone life and makes them justified. As by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

When law came, it was to multiply the opportunities of failing, but however great the number of sins committed, grace was even greater; and so, just as sin reigned wherever there was death, so grace will reign to bring eternal life thanks to the righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Responsorial Psalm:
Psalm 39(40):7-10,17

Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

You do not ask for sacrifice and offerings,
but an open ear.
You do not ask for holocaust and victim.
Instead, here am I.

Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

In the scroll of the book it stands written
that I should do your will.
My God, I delight in your law
in the depth of my heart.

Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

Your justice I have proclaimed
in the great assembly.
My lips I have not sealed;
you know it, O Lord.

Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

O let there be rejoicing and gladness
for all who seek you.
Let them ever say: ‘The Lord is great’,
who love your saving help.

Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

Gospel Acclamation:
Cf. Luke 8:15

Alleluia, Alleluia!
Blessed are those who,
with a noble and generous heart,
take the word of God to themselves
and yield a harvest through their perseverance.
Alleluia!

Or:
Luke 21:36

Alleluia, Alleluia!
Stay awake, praying at all times
for the strength to stand with confidence
before the Son of Man.
Alleluia!

Gospel:
Luke 12:36-38
Be dressed for action and have your lamps lit

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘See that you are dressed for action and have your lamps lit. Be like men waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as soon as he comes and knocks. Happy those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. I tell you solemnly, he will put on an apron, sit them down at table and wait on them. It may be in the second watch he comes, or in the third, but happy those servants if he finds them ready.’

Prayer over the Offerings:

Grant us, Lord, we pray,
a sincere respect for your gifts,
that, through the purifying action of your grace,
we may be cleansed by the very mysteries we serve.
Through Christ our Lord.

Communion Antiphon:
Cf. Psalm 32: 18-19

Behold, the eyes of the Lord
are on those who fear him,
who hope in his merciful love,
to rescue their souls from death,
to keep them alive in famine.

Or:
Mark 10: 45

The Son of Man has come
to give his life as a ransom for many.

Prayer after Communion:

Grant, O Lord, we pray,
that, benefiting from participation in heavenly things,
we may be helped by what you give in this present age
and prepared for the gifts that are eternal.
Through Christ our Lord.

Daily Reading Thursday 21st January 2021

Thursday 21 January 2021 Saint Agnes, Virgin, Martyr  on Thursday of week 2 in Ordinary Time Liturgical Colour: Red.

Entrance Antiphon:

Behold, now she follows the Lamb who was crucified for us,
powerful in virginity, modesty her offering,
a sacrifice on the altar of chastity.

Or:

Blessed is the virgin
who by denying herself and taking up her cross
imitated the Lord, the spouse of virgins
and prince of martyrs.

Collect:

Almighty ever-living God,
who choose what is weak in the world to confound the strong,
mercifully grant,
that we, who celebrate the heavenly birthday of your Martyr Saint Agnes,
may follow her constancy in the faith.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Readings for the feria (Thursday)

There is a choice today between the readings for the ferial day (Thursday) and those for the memorial. The ferial readings are recommended unless pastoral reasons suggest otherwise.

First Reading:
Hebrews 7:25-8:6
He has offered sacrifice once and for all by offering himself

The power of Jesus to save is utterly certain, since he is living for ever to intercede for all who come to God through him.

To suit us, the ideal high priest would have to be holy, innocent and uncontaminated, beyond the influence of sinners, and raised up above the heavens; one who would not need to offer sacrifices every day, as the other high priests do for their own sins and then for those of the people, because he has done this once and for all by offering himself. The Law appoints high priests who are men subject to weakness; but the promise on oath, which came after the Law, appointed the Son who is made perfect for ever.

The great point of all that we have said is that we have a high priest of exactly this kind. He has his place at the right of the throne of divine Majesty in the heavens, and he is the minister of the sanctuary and of the true Tent of Meeting which the Lord, and not any man, set up. It is the duty of every high priest to offer gifts and sacrifices, and so this one too must have something to offer. In fact, if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are others who make the offerings laid down by the Law and these only maintain the service of a model or a reflection of the heavenly realities. For Moses, when he had the Tent to build, was warned by God who said: See that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.

We have seen that he has been given a ministry of a far higher order, and to the same degree it is a better covenant of which he is the mediator, founded on better promises.

My lips I have not sealed;

Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

O let there be rejoicing and gladness
for all who seek you.
Let them ever say: ‘The Lord is great’,
who love your saving help.

Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

Gospel Acclamation:
cf. John 6:63,68

Alleluia, Alleluia!
Your words are spirit, Lord, and they are life.
you have the message of eternal life.
Alleluia!

Or:
cf. 2 Timothy 1:10

Alleluia, Alleluia!
Our Saviour Jesus Christ abolished death
and he has proclaimed life through the Good News.
Alleluia!

Gospel:
Mark 3:7-12
He warned them not to make him known as the Son of God

Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lakeside, and great crowds from Galilee followed him. From Judaea, Jerusalem, Idumaea, Transjordania and the region of Tyre and Sidon, great numbers who had heard of all he was doing came to him. And he asked his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, to keep him from being crushed. For he had cured so many that all who were afflicted in any way were crowding forward to touch him. And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw him, would fall down before him and shout, ‘You are the Son of God!’ But he warned them strongly not to make him known.

Prayer over the Offerings:

May the offerings we bring in celebration of blessed N.
win your gracious acceptance, O Lord, we pray,
just as the struggle of her suffering and passion
was pleasing to you.
Through Christ our Lord.

Communion Antiphon:
Revalation 7: 17

The Lamb who is at the centre of the throne
will lead them to the springs of the waters of life.

Prayer after Communion:

O God, who bestowed on blessed N. a crown among the Saints
for her twofold triumph of virginity and martyrdom,
grant, we pray, through the power of this Sacrament,
that, bravely overcoming every evil,
we may attain the glory of heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.

Our Prayers are Needed:

Please continue to prayer for all our special workers who are out there keeping us safe. Prayer for all of the victims of the pandemic and their families who are grieving. Remember also all of our homeless for whom we are still trying to support in our Parish. Please pray that they may stay safe too.
DONATION APPEAL – CAN YOU HELP? (Appeal to help our Patish Homeless)

These weeks of lockdown are difficult for all of us, and we are particularly mindful of those whose jobs and lives are put on hold because of the pandemic. We want to be here for you during these difficult times. Even so, the Church in our Diocese of Portsmouth, its clergy, parishes and schools, is entirely dependent upon your generous charity. So that we can continue to provide the Liturgy of the Lord and our works, both centrally and from our parishes to the local community, I kindly ask all of the faithful who are able to do so, to continue their generous regular-giving to the Diocese and to their parish churches, which would otherwise lose vital income.

We continue to feed our homeless each day and on Sundays in the best ways we can. If you can make a donation to the parish then we would be most grateful.

We have set up a donate page for those parishioners who are able to.

Daily Readings Thursday 4th June 2020

Thursday 4 June 2020 Our Lord Jesus Christ the Eternal High Priest – Feast Liturgical Colour: White.

Entrance Antiphon:
Cf. Hebrews 7:24; 9, 15

Christ, Mediator of the New Covenant, has an eternal priesthood because he remains for ever.

Collect:

O God, who for the glory of your majesty and the salvation of the human race, made your Only Begotten Son the Eternal High Priest, grant that, through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, those whom he has chosen as ministers and stewards of his mysteries may be found faithful in carrying out the ministry they have received. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

First Reading:
Genesis 22:9-18

The sacrifice of Isaac

When they arrived at the place God had pointed out to him, Abraham built an altar there, and arranged the wood. Then he bound his son Isaac and put him on the altar on top of the wood. Abraham stretched out his hand and seized the knife to kill his son.

But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven. ‘Abraham, Abraham’ he said. ‘I am here’ he replied. ‘Do not raise your hand against the boy’ the angel said. ‘Do not harm him, for now I know you fear God. You have not refused me your son, your only son.’ Then looking up, Abraham saw a ram caught by its horns in a bush. Abraham took the ram and offered it as a burnt-offering in place of his son. Abraham called this place ‘The Lord Provides’, and hence the saying today: On the mountain the Lord provides.

The angel of the Lord called Abraham a second time from heaven. ‘I swear by my own self – it is the Lord who speaks – because you have done this, because you have not refused me your son, your only son, I will shower blessings on you, I will make your descendants as many as the stars of heaven and the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants shall gain possession of the gates of their enemies. All the nations of the earth shall bless themselves by your descendants, as a reward for your obedience.’

Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

O let there be rejoicing and gladness
for all who seek you.
Let them ever say: ‘The Lord is great’,
who love your saving help.

Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

When a Feast of the Lord falls on a weekday, there is no Reading after the Psalm and before the Gospel:.

Gospel Acclamation:

Alleluia, alleluia!
Christ became obedient for us unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has exalted him and given him a name which is above every name.
Alleluia!

Gospel:
Matthew 26:36-42

My soul is sorrowful to the point of death

Jesus came with them to a small estate called Gethsemane; and he said to his disciples, ‘Stay here while I go over there to pray.’ He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with him. And sadness came over him, and great distress. Then he said to them, ‘My soul is sorrowful to the point of death. Wait here and keep awake with me.’

And going on a little further he fell on his face and prayed: ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass me by. Nevertheless, let it be as you, not I, would have it.’ He came back to the disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter: ‘So you had not the strength to keep awake with me one hour? You should be awake, and praying not to be put to the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.’ Again, a second time, he went away and prayed: ‘My Father, if this cup cannot pass by without my drinking it, your will be done!’

Prayer over the Offerings:

Lord, may our Mediator Jesus Christ render these gifts acceptable to you, and may he present us as sacrifices pleasing to you in union with him. Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.

Communion Antiphon:
Matthew 28:20

And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Prayer after Communion:

May this divine sacrifice we have offered and received fill us with life, O Lord, we pray, so that, bound to you in lasting charity, we may bear fruit that lasts for ever. Through Christ our Lord.

The meaning of prayer, almsgiving and fasting
The way to spend the time of Lent well

Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest,
and in our souls take up Thy rest;
come with Thy grace and heavenly aid
to fill the hearts which Thou hast made.

O comforter, to Thee we cry,
O heavenly gift of God Most High,
O fount of life and fire of love,
and sweet anointing from above.

Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known;
Thou, finger of Gods hand we own;
Thou, promise of the Father,
Thou Who dost the tongue with power imbue.

Kindle our sense from above,
and make our hearts oerflow with love;
with patience firm and virtue high
the weakness of our flesh supply.

Far from us drive the foe we dread,
and grant us Thy peace instead;
so shall we not, with Thee for guide,
turn from the path of life aside.

Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow
the Father and the Son to know;
and Thee, through endless times confessed,
of both the eternal Spirit blest.

Now to the Father and the Son,
Who rose from death, be glory given,
with Thou, O Holy Comforter,
henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen.

Opening prayer
Lord God, from you comes the initiative of love. You seek us out and you tell us:
“I am your God; you are my people.” You love us in Jesus Christ, your Son.
God, may our response of love go far beyond the demands of any law. May we seek you and commune with you in the deepest of our being and may we express our gratitude to you by going to our neighbor with a love that is spontaneous like yours. We ask you this through Christ our Lord.

Psalm 119
1 Blessed are they whose ways are blameless,
who walk according to the Law of the LORD.
2 Blessed are they who keep His statutes
and seek Him with all their heart.
3 They do nothing wrong;
 they walk in His ways.
4 You have laid down precepts
 to be fully obeyed.
5 Oh, that my ways were steadfast
 in obeying all Your decrees!
6 Then I would not be put to shame
 when I consider Your commands.
7 I will praise You with an upright heart
as I learn Your righteous laws.
8 I will obey all Your decrees;
do not utterly forsake me. Repeat

Gospel Reading - Matthew 5: 43-48
You have heard how it was said, You will love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say this to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you; so that you may be children of your Father in heaven, for he causes his sun to rise on the bad as
well as the good, and sends down rain to fall on the upright and the wicked alike.
For if you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even the tax collectors do as much? And if you save your greetings for your brothers, are you doing
anything exceptional? Do not even the gentiles do as much? You must therefore be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.

A moment of prayerful silence so that the Word of God may penetrate and enlighten our life.

Reflection...

Personal questions
• To love the enemies. Am I capable to love my enemies?
• Contemplate Jesus, in silence who at the hour of his death, he loved the enemy who killed him.

Ave Maris Stella
Hail, O Star of the ocean,
Gods own Mother blest,
ever sinless Virgin,
gate of heavnly rest.

Taking that sweet Ave,
which from Gabriel came,
peace confirm within us,
changing Eves name.

Break the sinners fetters,
make our blindness day,
Chase all evils from us,
for all blessings pray.

Show thyself a Mother,
may the Word divine
born for us thine Infant
hear our prayers through thine.

Virgin all excelling,
mildest of the mild,
free from guilt preserve us
meek and undefiled.

Keep our life all spotless,
make our way secure
till we find in Jesus,
joy for evermore.

Praise to God the Father,
honor to the Son,
in the Holy Spirit,
be the glory one. Amen.

Concluding Prayer
How blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the Law of Yahweh!
Blessed are those who observe his instructions, who seek him with all their hearts (Ps 119: 1-2)

8/12 Day PreparationDay 8 of 33 - SATURDAY 27th FEBRUARY 2021 1. Read during: Light dispels darknessA Reading from the Book of Genesis:In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face ofthe waters. And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness hecalled Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. (Gen 1:1-5)Pope Benedict XVI’s Easter Vigil homily 2012:What is the creation account saying here? Light makes life possible. It makes encounter possible. It makes communication possible. It makes knowledge, access to reality and to truth, possible. And insofar as it makes knowledge possible, it makes freedom and progress possible. Evil hides. Light, then, is also an expression of the good that both is and creates brightness. It is daylight, which makes it possible for us to act. To say that God created light means that God created the world as a space for knowledge and truth, as a space for encounter and freedom, as a space for good and for love. Matter is fundamentally good, being itself is good. And evil does not come from God-made being, rather, it comes into existence only through denial. It is a “no”. At Easter, on the morning of the first day of the week, God said once again: “Let there be light”. The night on the Mount of Olives, the solar eclipse of Jesus’ passion and death, the night of the grave had all passed. Now it is the first day once again – creation is beginning anew. “Let therebe light”, says God, “and there was light”: Jesus rises from the grave. Life is stronger than death. Good is stronger than evil. Love is stronger than hate. Truth is stronger than lies. The darkness of the previous days is driven away the moment Jesus rises from the grave and himself becomes God’s pure light. But this applies not only to him, not only to the darkness of those days. With the resurrection of Jesus, light itself is created anew. He draws all of us after him into the new light of the resurrection and he conquers all darkness. He is God’s new day, new for all of us.But how is this to come about? How does all this affect us so that instead of remaining word it becomes a reality that draws us in? Through the sacrament of baptism and the profession of faith, the Lord has built a bridge across to us, through which the new day reaches us. The Lord says to the newly-baptized: Fiat lux – let there be light. God’s new day – the day of indestructible life, comes also to us. Christ takes you by the hand. From now on you are held byhim and walk with him into the light, into real life. For this reason the early Church called baptism photismos – illumination.Reflection:Saint Louis de Montfort reminded us that Baptism is an entrance into Mary’s womb. That is the place where we learn a new logic, where we are enlightened as to the real power, providenceand plan of God. It is where we first draw close to Christ, like a twin with Him in the womb and we are formed with Him by the Holy Spirit and we become another Christ. Have I allowedthe logic of God to be fully formed in me? Do I allow a new light from God to rise up in my mind and heart? Do I believe that, “Life is stronger than death, good is stronger than evil, loveis stronger than hate, truth is stronger than lies?” Will I take Christ’s Hand again, as I once did in Baptism, and allow myself to be illumined by the light of His Love? Let us do that especiallyby making a Profession of Faith and recite the Creed.2. Pray During a day:St. Louis De Montfort's Prayer to MaryHail Mary, beloved Daughter of the Eternal Father!Hail Mary, admirable Mother of the Son! Hail Mary, faithful spouse of the Holy Ghost! Hail Mary, my dearMother, my loving Mistress, my powerful sovereign!Hail my joy, my glory, my heart and my soul! Thouart all mine by mercy, and I am all thine by justice. But I am not yet sufficiently thine. I now give myselfwholly to thee without keeping anything back formyself or others. If thou still seest in me anythingwhich does not belong to thee, I beseech thee totake it and to make thyself the absolute Mistress ofall that is mine. Destroy in me all that may bedispleasing to God, root it up and bring it to nought;place and cultivate in me everything that is pleasingto thee.May the light of thy faith dispel the darkness of mymind; may thy profound humility take the place of mypride; may thy sublime contemplation check thedistractions of my wandering imagination; may thycontinuous sight of God fill my memory with Hispresence; may the burning love of thy heart inflamethe lukewarmness of mine; may thy virtues take theplace of my sins; may thy merits be my onlyadornment in the sight of God and make up for allthat is wanting in me. Finally, dearly beloved Mother, grant, if it be possible, that I may have no other spiritbut thine to know Jesus and His divine will; that Imay have no other soul but thine to praise andglorify the Lord; that I may have no other heart butthine to love God with a love as pure and ardent asthine I do not ask thee for visions, revelations, sensible devotion or spiritual pleasures. It is thyprivilege to see God clearly; it is thy privilege toenjoy heavenly bliss; it is thy privilege to triumphgloriously in Heaven at the right hand of thy Son andto hold absolute sway over angels, men anddemons; it is thy privilege to dispose of all the gifts ofGod, just as thou willest.Such is, O heavenly Mary, the "best part," which theLord has given thee and which shall never be takenaway from thee-and this thought fills my heart withjoy. As for my part here below, I wish for no otherthan that which was thine: to believe sincerelywithout spiritual pleasures; to suffer joyfully withouthuman consolation; to die continually to myselfwithout respite; and to work zealously andunselfishly for thee until death as the humblest of thyservants. The only grace I beg thee to obtain for meis that every day and every moment of my life I maysay: Amen, so be it's all that thou didst do while onearth; Amen, so be it's all that thou art now doing inHeaven; Amen, so be it-to all that thou art doing inmy soul, so that thou alone mayest fully glorify Jesusin me for time and eternity. Amen. 3. Because He hath regarded the humility of His handmaid; for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Because He that is mighty hath done great things to me; and holy is His name. And His mercy is from generation to generations, to them that fear Him. He hath showed might in His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He hath put down the mighty from their seat; and hath exalted the humble. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath received Israel His servant, being mindful of His mercy. As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever. Amen.Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.Examine your conscience, pray, practice renouncement of your own will; mortification, purity of heart. This purity is the indispensable condition for contemplating God in heaven, to see Him on earth and to know Him by the light of faith. The first part of the preparation should be employed in casting off the spirit of the world which is contrary to that of Jesus Christ. The spirit of the world consists essentially in the denial of the supreme dominion of God; a denial which is manifested in practice by sin and disobedience; thus it is principally opposed to the spirit of Christ, which is also that of Mary. ... 8/12 Day Preparation

Day 8 of 33 - SATURDAY 27th FEBRUARY 2021

 1. Read during:

Light dispels darkness

A Reading from the Book of Genesis:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of
the waters. And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he
called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. (Gen 1:1-5)

Pope Benedict XVI’s Easter Vigil homily 2012:

What is the creation account saying here? “Let there

He is God’s new day, new for all of us.
But how is this to come about? How does all this affect us so that instead of remaining word it becomes a reality that draws us in? Through the sacrament of baptism and the profession of faith, the Lord has built a bridge across to us, through which the new day reaches us. The Lord says to the newly-baptized: Fiat lux – let there be light. God’s new day – the day of indestructible life, comes also to us. Christ takes you by the hand. From now on you are held by
him and walk with him into the light, into real life. For this reason the early Church called baptism photismos – illumination.

Reflection:

Saint Louis de Montfort reminded us that Baptism is an entrance into Mary’s womb. That is the place where we learn a new logic, where we are enlightened as to the real power, providence
and plan of God. It is where we first draw close to Christ, like a twin with Him in the womb and we are formed with Him by the Holy Spirit and we become another Christ. Have I allowed
the logic of God to be fully formed in me? Do I allow a new light from God to rise up in my mind and heart? Do I believe that, “Life is stronger than death, good is stronger than evil, love
is stronger than hate, truth is stronger than lies?” Will I take Christ’s Hand again, as I once did in Baptism, and allow myself to be illumined by the light of His Love? Let us do that especially
by making a Profession of Faith and recite the Creed.

2. Pray During a day:

St. Louis De Montforts Prayer to Mary

Hail Mary, beloved Daughter of the Eternal Father!
Hail Mary, admirable Mother of the Son! Hail Mary,
faithful spouse of the Holy Ghost! Hail Mary, my dear
Mother, my loving Mistress, my powerful sovereign!
Hail my joy, my glory, my heart and my soul! Thou
art all mine by mercy, and I am all thine by justice.
But I am not yet sufficiently thine. I now give myself
wholly to thee without keeping anything back for
myself or others. If thou still seest in me anything
which does not belong to thee, I beseech thee to
take it and to make thyself the absolute Mistress of
all that is mine. Destroy in me all that may be
displeasing to God, root it up and bring it to nought;
place and cultivate in me everything that is pleasing
to thee.
May the light of thy faith dispel the darkness of my
mind; may thy profound humility take the place of my
pride; may thy sublime contemplation check the
distractions of my wandering imagination; may thy
continuous sight of God fill my memory with His
presence; may the burning love of thy heart inflame
the lukewarmness of mine; may thy virtues take the
place of my sins; may thy merits be my only
adornment in the sight of God and make up for all
that is wanting in me. Finally, dearly beloved Mother,
grant, if it be possible, that I may have no other spirit
but thine to know Jesus and His divine will; that I
may have no other soul but thine to praise and
glorify the Lord; that I may have no other heart but
thine to love God with a love as pure and ardent as
thine I do not ask thee for visions, revelations,
sensible devotion or spiritual pleasures. It is thy
privilege to see God clearly; it is thy privilege to
enjoy heavenly bliss; it is thy privilege to triumph
gloriously in Heaven at the right hand of thy Son and
to hold absolute sway over angels, men and
demons; it is thy privilege to dispose of all the gifts of
God, just as thou willest.
Such is, O heavenly Mary, the best part, which the
Lord has given thee and which shall never be taken
away from thee-and this thought fills my heart with
joy. As for my part here below, I wish for no other
than that which was thine: to believe sincerely
without spiritual pleasures; to suffer joyfully without
human consolation; to die continually to myself
without respite; and to work zealously and
unselfishly for thee until death as the humblest of thy
servants. The only grace I beg thee to obtain for me
is that every day and every moment of my life I may
say: Amen, so be its all that thou didst do while on
earth; Amen, so be its all that thou art now doing in
Heaven; Amen, so be it-to all that thou art doing in
my soul, so that thou alone mayest fully glorify Jesus
in me for time and eternity. Amen.

3. Prayer - Veni Creator & Ave Maris Stella at 6.00am

Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest,
and in our souls take up Thy rest;
come with Thy grace and heavenly aid
to fill the hearts which Thou hast made.
O comforter, to Thee we cry,
O heavenly gift of God Most High,
O fount of life and fire of love,
and sweet anointing from above.
Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known;
Thou, finger of Gods hand we own;
Thou, promise of the Father,
Thou Who dost the tongue with power imbue.
Kindle our sense from above,
and make our hearts oerflow with love;
with patience firm and virtue high
the weakness of our flesh supply.
Far from us drive the foe we dread,
and grant us Thy peace instead;
so shall we not, with Thee for guide,
turn from the path of life aside.
Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow
the Father and the Son to know;
and Thee, through endless times confessed,
of both the eternal Spirit blest.
Now to the Father and the Son,
Who rose from death, be glory given,
with Thou, O Holy Comforter,
henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen.

Ave Maris Stella

Hail, O Star of the ocean,
Gods own Mother blest,
ever sinless Virgin,
gate of heavnly rest.
Taking that sweet Ave,
which from Gabriel came,
peace confirm within us,
changing Eves name.
Break the sinners fetters,
make our blindness day,
Chase all evils from us,
for all blessings pray.
Show thyself a Mother,
may the Word divine
born for us thine Infant
hear our prayers through thine.
Virgin all excelling,
mildest of the mild,
free from guilt preserve us
meek and undefiled.
Keep our life all spotless,
make our way secure
till we find in Jesus,
joy for evermore.
Praise to God the Father,
honor to the Son,
in the Holy Spirit,
be the glory one. Amen.

3. Magnificat, and Glory Be- during HOUR of MERCY at 3 pm

Magnificat

My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Examine your conscience, pray, practice renouncement of your own will; mortification, purity of heart. This purity is the indispensable condition for contemplating God in heaven, to see Him on earth and to know Him by the light of faith. The first part of the preparation should be employed in casting off the spirit of the world which is contrary to that of Jesus Christ. The spirit of the world consists essentially in the denial of the supreme dominion of God; a denial which is manifested in practice by sin and disobedience; thus it is principally opposed to the spirit of Christ,
which is also that of Mary.
