The Diocesan Formation for Mission (FFM) team is offering a series of online talks and videos this July and August to help bring you closer to Jesus Christ. Whether you’re a catechist wanting to develop your ministry or a faithful Catholic looking to learn more, they are here to help.
Formation for Everybody
Where Does It Come From?
Why are there more books in the Catholic Old Testament? Who decided which books are part of the New Testament? If you’ve ever been asked tricky questions about the origins of the Scriptures, or asked them yourself, join Sr Carino OP of the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph as we begin our exploration of the roots of our Catholic faith by looking at the Old and New Testaments: what they are, where they come from, and who wrote them.
Meet Some Great People
Join Ciara, postulant with the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph, to delve a little deeper into the life of two saints you may not know much about – Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity and Saint Oliver Plunkett.
What’s on your bookshelf? Share your favourite books
Join Ciara to get some good Catholic book recommendations for use in your apostolate or your own formation – including some enjoyable fiction!
What is prayer? How do we pray? Sr Catherine OP and Lorraine of the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph have begun a video series on prayer, to help us open our hearts and minds to God.
Formation for Catechists
Encouragement for Catechists from St. Augustine
Have you ever felt that you don’t use the right language in catechesis? Do you wish you could express yourself better when you are handing on your faith? In the fifth century, St. Augustine addressed these questions and more in his writings on catechesis – and his advice and encouragement is still very relevant today. Join Lorraine to see what encouragement St. Augustine can give you in handing on your faith.
Welcome Back to Mass!
Coming back to Mass after a long time away might be something your child is worried or confused about. Sr Catherine and Sr Carino have created a video for young children to help make coming back to Mass a happy and easy experience. This is also ideal for children preparing for their First Holy Communion.
…and business as usual
On top of what we’re offering this summer, we’d also like to remind you about ongoing projects and campaigns we are involved with.
We hope you will be able to join us to grow deeper in faith this summer. FFM would love to hear your questions, comments, suggestions and ideas for how we can help you. Join the conversation by emailing Sr Hyacinthe OP at firstname.lastname@example.org.
