This coming Sunday is Easter Sunday, a time of joy, celebration and new life. When Mary Magdalene comes to the tomb where Jesus’s body has been laid she sees that the stone that blocked the entrance of the tomb has been moved. She was amazed and ran back to tell the disciples.
When Peter and John got there they saw that the tomb is empty except for the cloths that the body had been wrapped in. The disciples realised that Jesus had risen from the dead and they believed in him.
This act of God was more than people could imagine. Jesus’ resurrection shows us that nothing is impossible to God and this fills us with great hope. As we gather as a family over Easter, let us reflect on the signs of God’s power in the world and in our own lives.
What is your hope for the world this Easter? How can we make it happen?
Closing prayer: Risen Lord, we are filled with joy as we celebrate the rising of your Son. We give thanks for the new life that you have given us. Help us always to live as you have shown us, with respect and love for all your people. Amen.
