“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” As winter closes in and the temperature drops I am sure some of us in our comfortable beds at night will be sparing a thought for those who are homeless and facing another night on the streets. Well there is now a chance to do something about it! Our Parish in St Swithun’s in Southsea is delighted to be part of what is called “Open Churches” which is a rolling shelter where a different church will open its doors one evening a week from 29th January to 25th February. Up to 10 guests will stay in a different church where they will receive a warm welcome, a hot meal, comfortable and warm clean bedding and a peaceful night’s sleep. In the morning there will be a simple breakfast and guests depart by 8am. If you be willing to contribute a few hours of your time to reach out to this marginalised group of people? If so please contact Lisa Butler at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Lisa on 07444714835 for more information and about the training session which will take place on November 28th. We hope you will join us and guarantee that you will receive much more than you give.
