GIFT AIDING by Setting up Standing Order
By far the most helpful and easiest way of giving in that you don’t have to worry or remember about using envelopes each week, is via setting up a Standing Order (STO) You can set this up on-line yourself, ticking the relevant box on the STO form where it says
- I will set up this standing order myself via on-line banking (please check box if applicable)
- if you prefer, please print off a STO form filling out the details and return it to the Parish Office together with the signed Gift Aid declaration.
Once your Bank receives your signed STO form, they will arrange for regular payments to be made directly into the Parish Bank Account. (You can send the STO form to your Bank directly, but please ensure that the Parish Office has a copy.)
- You can stop the STO at any time, either on-line or by contacting your bank

Frequently Asked Questions
To claim Gift Aid on your fundraising, we must have the first name or initials, last name, full home address and postcode of each individual donor/sponsor. So please encourage them to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form when they sponsor you. Without these details we legally can’t claim Gift Aid – so be strict with your supporters!
To let us know if you stop paying tax or wish to cancel your declaration, please use our enquiry form or call us at the Parish Office.
To simplify matters for both you and our Parish, the declaration wording normally covers present, future and past donations. We can back-claim four years and we will continue to claim until you tell us otherwise, so long as you are eligible.
A Gift Aid declaration is a statement by an individual taxpayer that they want a charity to receive the tax paid on their donation back from the government.
Nothing! It just ensures that if you choose to donate to the Parish, we can claim an extra 25% back from the government.
The process is simple – all you have to do is make a Gift Aid declaration. If you are donating online, just tick the Gift Aid box on the donation form. If you donate in Church, there is a simple form to sign. Or contact us using the online form and we’ll send you a form through the post or by email as you require.
In order for the Parish to reclaim the tax you have paid on your donations, you must have paid income or capital gains tax (in the UK) for each tax year (6 April to 5 April) at least equal to the tax that all the charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs that you donate to will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. Other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify.
Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your gift to the Parish- at no extra cost to you. If you pay tax in the UK, our parish can reclaim the basic rate tax (25%) on your gift. So, if you donate £100, it is worth £125 to Our Lady of Lourdes and St Swithuns.
If you are setting up a standing order please consider electing to Gift Aid your donation so that we can claim and additional 25% back from the Government.
You can stop your standing order at anytime, either on-line or by contacting your bank directing.
Your Bank will arrange for regular payments to be made directly into the Parish Bank Account.
You can set the standing order up on-line yourself using the bank details shown on the standing order form but please remember to let us know by ticking the relevant box on the form and returning it to us.
