Welcome to this week’s newsletter! Today we celebrate the 5th Sunday Ordinary Time Year B. Look through the gospel for this weekend – Jesus has a busy day: a service and homily in the synagogue, a conflict with devils, supper with Peter’s family and the cure of his mother in law, more care for the sick and the tormented in the cool of the evening, and then to bed. An early start the next morning for prayer and even his prayer was interrupted as they were all looking for him.
The heart of Jesus went out to those in need; they knew that and he was the type of person who would attract those in need. The healing he communicated was not always physical, but was like a healing of anxiety, guilt and all that weighs us down. A strengthening of ourselves that gives a lift for the future.
This happens still in his care for people today. The church, his community, is to be the people of healing, like a ‘field hospital’ (Pope Francis). The peace of mind people find in prayer or in a holy place is like the ministry of Jesus. The lift of the soul in deep human love, listening and sympathy is also like the ministry of Jesus.
A prayer of breathing: on the in-breath, let the word peace echo in your mind and heart. On the out-breath the word thanks.May be presence of Lord these days and always bring peace of mind and heart to those I meet.
Have a blessed week from all at St Swithuns and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Southsea.

“CAN-DO CHRISTIANS” A MESSAGE FROM FATHER MARCIN
Dearest Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Dear Friends: I would like to share with You some things which are about our Parish and for our Parish. Our Bishop Philip in the last Pastoral Letter to us, last weekend asked us to be ‘CAN-DO’ Christians. I’m absolutely sure, that You have noticed how many things already happen in our Parish to help in our spiritual grow to love God more and more in His Word to us, in His Sacraments for us (which is His real presence among us). We also go out to meet those who still searching for God, or who were not so lucky to have personal contact with Jesus Christ.
COME AND ASK ANY QUESTION ABOUT OUR FAITH
Dear Friends, if You will be not able to attend weekday’s Masses, You can always find these homilies, and many, many other interesting things on the website: www.stswithuns.org.uk
Also, as a complement to it, I would like to put a special table in the church hall, which will be ready for anyone who would like to ask, even the most difficult questions – about our Catholic faith. Because, I still meet so many sad situations, when some opinions created by media or people of not good will, to discredit Catholic faith, completely destroy people’s belief and stop them practicising their faith.
So, whoever, after Mass at 10.15am will sit, I will be very happy to join them and try my best to explain difficult subjects, misleads and misunderstandings shared in this world about our faith.
YOU ARE VERY WELCOME!
NEW SECTION ON OUR WEBSITE IF YOU JUST WANT TO SPEND SOME SPECIAL TIME WITH GOD
A big THANK YOU to our sponsors who contribute to our Parish costs
