Anna Paquin stars in this war drama based on the true story of German nurse and social worker Irena Sendler. As part of her job, Irena (Paquin) has access to the Warsaw ghetto where she provides aid to Poles in German occupied Poland. When she helps to rescue a Jewish friend’s daughter and provides a hiding spot for a Catholic family, word soon gets out that Irena can help. With thousands more children and families still in grave danger, and the Nazis stepping up their effort every day, Irena recruits like-minded and discreet friends to help her smuggle as many children out of the city as possible. The cast also includes Michelle Dockery, Marcia Gay Harden and Goran Visnjic.
