Nov 24 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Blessed Oscar Romero

Blessed Oscar Romero

On behalf of Matthew Quinn (Headteacher at Oaklands Catholic School and Sixth Form College) and Paul Quinn (Chairperson of the Oscar Romero Award (for Schools) Trust), we would like to invite you to a Thanksgiving Mass for the canonisation of Archbishop Oscar RomeroThis Mass will take place at the Cathedral on Saturday 24 November 2018 at 2.00pm and will be celebrated by Bishop Philip Egan. The service will be followed by a keynote address in the Discovery Centre about the life and works of Saint Oscar Romero.

The Mass is an opportunity for us to thank God for the life and example of Saint Oscar Romero, who was canonised on Sunday 14 October 2018 in Rome. Saint Oscar Romero is known as a modern saint who stood up for the oppressed and is still seen a voice for the voice less. His teaching and example have inspired us to start the Oscar Romero Award for Catholic Schools; an Award that will help schools think about their role as practitioners and promoters of Catholic social justice.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact Mugeni Sumba by email on m.sumba@oaklandscatholicschool.org or 07843 514376.

Yours sincerely: Mugeni Sumba Co-ordinator of the Oscar Romero Award for Schools
