Evangelisation Strategy TEAM. A strategy for growing our parish…
Are you a creative thinker? Do you work well as part of a team? Do you take your faith seriously? Father Marcin is building a team of ‘strategists’ – those who are good at planning and looking ahead. Would you like to be involved? Spreading the Gospel, going out to all the nations to teach and to baptise is difficult in today’s society, but God hasn’t left us alone….He will help us to do great things for Him…all we have to do is be ready and willing to do His Will. The mission of the church (the whole point of the church) is to evangelise, to reach out and to proclaim the faith to unbelievers and those who have lapsed.
We need to think about…
• Why is there a parish here in this place?
• What is our goal?
• Are we open to new-comers?
• Do we attract new people?
• Are we outward looking or are we closed in?
• Are we playing our part in the local community?
• Are we proclaiming the Gospel effectively?
• Are we educating and forming members of the parish in the Catholic Faith?
• Do we have a sense of being part of a world-wide Catholic Church?
• Do we offer support to those who might be struggling with their faith?
I CALL ALL THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO HELP, TO LEAD, TO WORK HARD – FOR THE FIRST MEETING ON MONDAY 5TH NOVEMBER AT 6.30PM IN THE PRESBYTERY (105 Waverley Rd)
Fr Marcin Drabik
Here’s what our Bishop says
Evangelisation Strategy TEAM. In 2014 Bishop Philip set a timeline for every Parish (and then every Pastoral Area) to establish a team of people who would devise a strategy for evangelisation, that is, for reaching out and proclaiming the Gospel to the ‘outside world’… taking the church out to those who (at present) have no contact with Jesus through His church. In our parish we have started The Neocatechumenal Way programme which is one of the way of the New Evangelisation.
A serious question to ask ourselves is this: if the parish church disappeared overnight, who would miss it? Apart from the parishioners (and of course the Parish Priest!) who ‘out-there’ would miss the church in their life? If we can think of only a few people, then we’re not being effective in our outreach, we’re not evangelising, we’re not living the Gospel. We need to think strategically. We need to be imaginative. We need to be outward looking as well of course as taking care of one another.
“GO OUT AND PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS!” Jesus commanded us. Would you like to be part of this team? Are you good at planning and organising? Are you an imaginative thinker? Are you creative? Would you like to share your faith with others? It’s important that this team is made up all kinds of people – truly representing our parish community. We need representatives from all of the different ethnic groups, old and young, retired and employed. This is really important. This is the mission of the church… all disciples need to engage in this task… could you get involved???
