In Sunday’s Gospel, Matthew 28:16-20, Jesus asks his disciples to spread his word to all nations – to teach them to follow his commandments. He asks his disciples to baptise people in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is speaking to us also, to encourage us to spread his word through our words and actions.
On Sunday, we celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We know God as three persons; God the Father our creator; God the Son, our saviour and God the Holy Spirit, who brings us love. We know God as these three parts and also know there is one God – a mystery that is very hard to understand.
At the end of the Gospel reading, Jesus says, “I am with you always, yes to the end of time.” Jesus is there to guide us always, if we choose to listen to him.
Closing prayer: God of all, fill us with your Spirit of love and peace and help us to spread your word and to show our faith by how we treat each other. We ask this through Christ, your Son, who is with us always. Amen
